Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to come into the program with any experience?

NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED
NO PRIOR COURSES
NO PRIOR TECHNOLOGY EXPERTISE
OPEN TO ALL MILITARY SPOUSES PAST OR PRESENT

What does this program cost?

The Rosie Project is completely funded by the state and FREE to the students to kick-start your IT career.

Do I incur any commitments for participating in the Rosie Project?

Nope! The Rosie Project is designed to support Military Spouses and the War Fighter mission, and we acknowledge a level of flexibility is required. Unlike when you PCS or your spouse signs another contract, you are not locked into a several-year time commitment.

What are the requirements to apply?

You need to be a military spouse (current or former) who is present for the entire 6-month curriculum in person. You need to be a US Citizen, a high-school graduate, and have the ability to obtain a US security clearance. You do not need a post-secondary degree or any previous IT experience.

If I PCS partway through the six-month program, can I still participate in a portion of it?

The Rosie Project requires each participant to be present the entire six-month curriculum. If you PCS to Hill Air Force Base partway through this cohort’s six-month programming, we encourage you to apply to the next cohort. The Rosie Project has two cohorts a year, so if you PCS to Hill Air Force Base in the summer, we encourage you to apply to the Fall Cohort.

If you know you will PCS from Hill Air Force Base partway through the six-month program, we encourage you to subscribe to our mailing list to learn when similar opportunities arise at other military bases.

Is this transferable across military bases?

After the six-month program, you will transition to the interview process for a full-time Government Civilian within the Department of Defense and the local Aerospace and Defense Community. You will gain skills and experience that is highly sought after DoD and industry wide. We hope this training and work experience springboards you into the next chapter of your career with each move your family makes for your spouse’s assignments. The certifications are accepted military-wide, so you can transfer between military bases with relative ease.

Do I need a computer?

No. The Rosie Project will loan you a laptop for the duration of the six-month internship.

Tell me more about child care.

The Rosie Project covers child care for children under six years old while the military spouse is completing the curriculum. The details will be determined closer to the start of the program because it is dependent upon the number of children needing daycare services.
